Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 block firm tofu drained and cut into cubes
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup dashi broth
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoon grated daikon radish optional, for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions optional, for garnish

Instructions 

  1. 1. Drain the tofu and cut it into cubes.
  2. 2. Coat the tofu cubes in cornstarch.
  3. 3. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  4. 4. Fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. 5. In a small saucepan, combine dashi broth, soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.
  6. 6. Serve the fried tofu in a bowl and pour the hot broth over it. Garnish with grated daikon radish and chopped green onions if desired.
