Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups shredded cabbage
  • ½ cup sliced green onions
  • ½ cup diced cooked bacon optional
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • as needed vegetable oil for frying

Toppings

  • to taste Okonomiyaki sauce
  • to taste Japanese mayonnaise
  • to taste bonito flakes
  • to taste aonori (seaweed flakes)

Instructions 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, water, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
  2. Add the shredded cabbage, green onions, and bacon (if using) to the batter. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add a little vegetable oil. Pour a portion of the batter into the pan and spread it out to form a pancake.
  4. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Transfer the pancake to a plate and drizzle with Okonomiyaki sauce and Japanese mayonnaise. Sprinkle with bonito flakes and aonori.
  6. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve hot.
